Compiler protection versus wrappers: what to compare
Compare integration, coverage, reusable attacks and compatibility in one experiment instead of adopting a vendor's conclusion.
Understand the vendor's argument
Guardsquare argues that compiler-based approaches can interweave protection with application internals, whereas library wrappers can concentrate controls and permit reusable bypasses. This is a vendor's architectural argument, not our measurement of every wrapper or hybrid product.
Request comparable evidence
Use one application version and a fixed attack budget. Record business transformations separately from environment checks and identify build-chain requirements. Repeat on a new release to measure how much prior analysis transfers. Removing a detector and recovering core logic are different outcomes.
Your checklist
- Request method-level coverage.
- Record build, performance and signing costs.
- Retest attack reuse on a new release.
