Why LLVM obfuscation is a layer, not the whole defense
Control-flow and instruction transformations change representation. Functional replication must still be tested externally.
Know the transformation layer
Obfuscator-LLVM describes work at the LLVM intermediate-representation level. The integration question is whether the customer's module enters that pipeline and whether the required input still exists. A compile-time tool is not automatically a universal post-build upload service.
Measure incremental value
Add transformations incrementally around proprietary rules. Track replication effort, errors, performance and reproducibility at each step. If behavior reveals the rule quickly despite complex code, revisit the asset and algorithm design instead of stacking similar transformations. Keep layers for measured incremental value.
Your checklist
- Distinguish IR inputs from compiled packages.
- Use a control build for each layer.
- Keep a rollback build when results regress.
