Why iOS protection requires a signing plan
Protection changes program contents. Signing, extensions, devices and distribution require independent validation.
Signing is not another obfuscation layer
Apple describes checks relating application code to its signing identity. Modified signed contents generally require signing again. Successful signature validation establishes the relevant integrity and identity requirements, not resistance to logic replication.
Keep private keys with the customer
Return transformed artifacts and hashes, then sign in the customer's controlled environment. Inventory widgets, watch components, libraries and entitlements; validate the actual device workflows. Producing an IPA alone does not make it distributable through every channel.
Your checklist
- Do not upload .p12 files or signing private keys.
- Map bundles to their extensions.
- Test real-device functionality after signing.
